A Personal Message From the Owner

My name is Angelique Hill and I am the Owner, CEO, and Lead Instructor at Rising Adults Academy. I am also a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE-P) through the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and a member of the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (SSEA). I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Athens State University, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Family and Community Services at South Dakota State University. I am the author of the published title, Not Broken Beyond Repair: A Christian’s Guide to Spiritual Restoration. Writing and teaching have become a passion of mine, I truly enjoy what I do!

The inspiration for Rising Adults Academy came from my desire to help emerging adults who are preparing to transition into adulthood. From both personal experience and research, I found that many young people are lacking important life skills, such as how to manage their home, finances, and interpersonal relationships; and these are very important skills to master if you want to be successful as an adult. As a mother of four, one being a teenager, I wanted to make sure that my kids were equipped with life skills in case something happened to me. As parents, we all hope that we stay alive long enough to raise our own children and to see them off into adulthood; we just want them to be ready. In my case, I initially wanted to create a little book of skills that my kids would need to know before turning 18, but then I thought of a better idea: I can not only create a life skills book for them, but I can make a workbook for other people who need it as well! Even better, I can teach life skills courses for those who learn better with auditory and visual instruction. I had a purpose and a plan, so the next step was to execute.

Rising Adults Academy was officially registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) on August 31st of 2020–right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, I used much of my stimulus payment to fund the start-up costs for my business. What better way to stimulate society than to create something that educates and supports our youth. What they learn can help transform them into productive and contributing members of society, which in turn helps our communities to thrive. As a CFLE-(P), I signed a code of ethics agreement that states the ethical principles I must follow as a professional, and I fully intend to uphold that agreement throughout my career. If you’d like to see the code of ethics agreement, you can do so here

My purpose for establishing Rising Adults Academy was not profit-driven; it was about making an impact on society. Of course, I want to be compensated for the work that I do, as this is my full-time job, but my main goal is to make sure emerging adults are getting access to life skills education. If you’ve read our FAQs section by chance, you know that our courses are offered for a very low price. To help bring in more income to create more educational content and to pay myself and my employees, we offer merchandise that’s available here on our website. Please free to shop around a little—you just might find something that’s perfect for you or a loved one!

To the emerging adults that are in the transition into adulthood right now, keep in mind that one of the most important things that you can do is prepare yourself with the tools you need to navigate adulthood successfully. Equip yourselves with the knowledge to be educated in this world. Most importantly, show yourself grace and give yourself time to learn and grow. As Robert Tew quotes, "Be patient with yourself. You are growing stronger every day. The weight of the world will become lighter...and you will begin to shine brighter. Don't give up." :)
